This marks the 4th time South Korea will host a world cup level event. Tongyeong is the only Korean city to host an ITU world cup.

 COURSE PROFILE: Swim - Two-lap 1.5-kilometer ocean swim with a dive start off a pontoon. At the end of the first lap, athletes need to come out on the pontoon and dive back in. Distance to the first buoy is 350 meters. Wetsuits will be in effect as water temperature will be between 15 and 17 degrees Celsius. Bike - Five-lap 40-kilometer bike course with two big hills. Two wheel stops per lap. Run - Fourlap, 10-kilometer flat run. Two Aid Stations per lap. STORIES TO WATCH FOR: First Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Series event - The debut event of the new Dextro Energy Triathlon ? ITU World Championship Series. The Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Series is a new global triathlon series at the highest level of the sport. It represents an innovative change by creating seven first-class World Championship events and a Grand Final rather than a one-day world championship event. The world?s best triathletes will compete head-to-head, featuring live international television for the first time from every event. A record of over USD 3 million (total prize money available for world championship and world cup series) will be at stake in the battle to become triathlon's 2009 world champion. Olympic Champ's first hit out - Olympic Gold medallist, Emma Snowsill of Australia, races for the first time since her win at the Beijing Olympic Games. After suffering a cracked rib in a surfing accident early in 2009, Snowsill has not raced since her Olympic triumph. All eyes will be on the pint-sized Aussie to see if she is in top shape Olympic Medalists in Action - Five Olympic medalists will race this weekend including Beijing Gold Medallist Emma Snowsill, Athens gold medallist Kate Allen, bronze medallist Emma Moffatt and double medalists Bevan Docherty (bronze-Beijing; silver-Athens) and Simon Whitfield (gold-Sydney, silver-Beijing).
